Frequently Asked Questions

YOLO Outdoors is located in Jispa, Lahaul, Himachal Pradesh — on the Manali-Leh Highway, at 3,200 metres above sea level. We are 92 kilometres from Manali, which is roughly 3–4 hours by road. The drive itself — through Atal Tunnel, along the Bhaga River, past Keylong — is part of the experience.

The nearest airport is Bhuntar Airport (KUU), also known as Kullu-Manali Airport, approximately 190km from Jispa. It is connected to Delhi and Chandigarh via domestic flights. From Bhuntar, take a taxi or bus to Manali (~50km), then continue to Jispa. We recommend a night's rest in Manali before making the drive up.

The only route is the Manali-Leh Highway (NH-3) via the Atal Tunnel. The tunnel bypasses Rohtang Pass and cuts travel time by over 3 hours.

By private vehicle or SUV — the best option. The road from Manali to Jispa is in good condition. Start early (ideally by 8am) to arrive by noon.

By taxi — private taxis available from Manali's taxi stand. Book in advance during peak season.

By bus — HRTC buses on the Manali-Leh route pass through Jispa.

Note: Fuel stations after Manali are at Tandi and Keylong. Fill up at one of these — there are no fuel stations beyond Keylong.

The Manali to Jispa stretch is one of the better sections on the entire Manali-Leh Highway — smooth roads through Atal Tunnel, Sissu, Keylong, and into Jispa. Standard precautions apply: avoid night driving, check weather before you leave, and be aware of occasional landslide diversions during monsoon.

Check-in: 12:00 PM (noon) onwards. Check-out: 11:00 AM.

If you're arriving from Manali, leaving by 7–8am gets you here comfortably by noon. Early arrivals are welcome to explore the property while your dome is being prepared. Late check-out may be possible subject to availability — just ask in advance.

YOLO Outdoors is a luxury geodesic dome glamping property with private riverside access on the Bhaga River. The domes combine the rawness of the Himalayan landscape with real comfort — proper beds, warmth, curated interiors — without walls between you and the mountain world outside. Nature-first, but never rough.

Yes. YOLO Outdoors has exclusive private access to the Bhaga River. It's one of the defining features of the property. Sit by it, listen to it, wake up to it.

Summer — May to September (Peak): Roads open, skies clear, high passes accessible. Temperatures 10–20°C in the day, cold at night. Best for excursions to Shinku La, Baralacha, and the mountain lakes.

Autumn — October to mid-November: Our quieter, more beautiful window. Crowds thin out, light turns golden, mountains feel closer. Ideal for those who want the Himalayas without the noise.

Winter — Mid-November to mid-January: Cold and remote. Open for guests who want a true high-altitude winter experience — snowfall, silence, and some of the clearest skies of the year.

Closed — Mid-January through end of February.

Jispa sits at 3,200 metres. Even in summer, nights drop sharply — expect 3–8°C after sundown in June/July, and below zero from October onwards.

Bring: thermal base layers, a good fleece or down jacket, warm socks, a windproof outer layer. Also: high-SPF sunscreen and sunglasses — UV intensity at altitude is significantly higher than at sea level.

Yes. The Atal Tunnel keeps the Manali-to-Jispa section accessible through most of winter, bypassing the snowfall zone at Rohtang. We are open from March through mid-January. For winter visits (November–January), contact us directly to confirm access conditions for your dates.

Airtel and Jio both work fine in Jispa. You'll have mobile signal at the property for calls, messages, and data.

Vodafone has no reception in the Jispa area. If you're on Vodafone, use our property internet instead.

Note: Beyond Jispa towards Sarchu and Leh, connectivity drops significantly. Download offline maps and content before heading further north.

Yes. YOLO Outdoors has satellite internet and 5G connectivity on-site — remarkable for a property at this altitude. You can work, stream, and stay connected if you need to. That said, most guests find the mountains a good reason to put the phone down.

Shinku La Pass (~5,100m): Snow year-round. A mountain pass that sits above the clouds and offers a view that resets something inside you.

Baralacha La Pass (~4,800m): On the Manali-Leh Highway itself. Where the road feels genuinely other-worldly — brown valleys, infinite sky, no crowds.

Deepak Tal & Suraj Tal: Two high-altitude Himalayan lakes en route to Baralacha. Suraj Tal is one of the highest lakes in India.

Ranglung Gompa: A sacred monastery near Jispa. Quiet, ancient, and worth an hour of your time.

The God Mountain (~5,500m): A sacred peak visible from the valley, revered by locals as a deity. It doesn't need a summit. Just look up.

Absolutely. Shinku La Pass at 5,100m carries snow year-round. A day trip from YOLO Outdoors gives you glacier-level snowfields without needing to trek or climb — just drive up. The landscape shifts completely within an hour. The peaks visible from our property also retain snow through most of the year. You'll see it every morning from your dome.

Yes. We facilitate excursions to nearby passes, lakes, and the monastery. Reach out when booking or after check-in and we'll arrange transport and guidance. Everything here is best experienced with local knowledge — especially the mountain roads.

Indian nationals do not require any permit. Jispa is in Himachal Pradesh and is freely accessible.

Foreign nationals need to carry passports for verification at the Darcha police checkpoint (7km north of Jispa).

If continuing to Leh, Nubra Valley, or Pangong Lake — Inner Line Permits (ILP) are required and can be obtained in Leh or online.

Carry cash before arriving. ATMs are not reliably available in Jispa. The closest options are in Keylong (20km) or Manali. Withdraw enough for your stay and excursions before leaving Manali — local vendors on mountain roads are cash-only.

Jispa is at 3,200 metres. Most people acclimatise well, especially if they've spent a night in Manali first (at ~2,000m) before driving up.

Precautions: stay hydrated, avoid alcohol on your first night, don't overexert on arrival day. For excursions to Shinku La (5,100m) or Baralacha (4,800m), spend your first night at the property and head to the passes on Day 2 or later. Guests prone to AMS should consult a doctor and consider Diamox before travel.

Reach out to us directly on WhatsApp for bookings, custom queries, or group stays. We're a small, hands-on team — you'll always be talking to someone who actually knows the property.
